About the Author
Alexandre Dumas was born in France in 1802. His historical adventure novels are what make him the most famous. He was born into poverty and lived without the chance to get a good education, but he read everything he could get a hold of. Since his father died in the war, his mother's battle stories inspired Dumas' adventure imagination. He wrote for magazines and the newspapers when he was older and his stories were received well by everyone, including the king. He finally began writing serial novels for magazines and published his first books around 1940. Works such as The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Vicomte de Bragelonne, and Twenty Years After all make him incredibly famous today. He changed the world of theater and the world of literature and is still considered one of the greatest authors to ever live.
